"Music by the River" is a Cathedral-supported concert series that brings diverse musical artists to St. Stephen's Episcopal Cathedral, aiming to highlight the historic venue's unique acoustic qualities and beautiful performance space. Hosting free and ticketed events each season, the series features professional soloists, choirs, and chamber ensembles from both the sacred and secular realms.

Erik Meyer, prestigious organist at the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral, will perform a concert of dedication for our cathedral’s magnificent new Marshall & Ogletree Organ, Opus 19.

Duo Terlano, the award-winning teaching and performing team of Johannes Dietrich, violin, and Marie-Aline Cadieux, cello, has established a reputation for dynamic and exciting performances and educational workshops. As well as standards from the duo repertoire, their programs include rediscovered gems from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods. Duo Terlano actively commissions new works, and has a lengthy list of original compositions and arrangements to its credit. Along with a busy performance schedule, Duo Terlano offers frequent master classes and clinics, both in the public schools and for music educators. The duo gets its name from the northern Italian town where Dietrich and Cadieux spent their first wedding anniversary.

The Cedar Cliff High School Chamber Singers is an elite ensemble featuring 32 of the West Shore’s finest vocalists. For the 8th time in the group’s history, the Chamber Singers have been selected as one of only four choirs across the state to perform at this year’s Pennsylvania State Music Educators Conference. The ensemble, under the direction of St. Stephen’s own Matthew Topping, will perform their final “Farewell Concert” as part of the Music By the River series before traveling to the conference.

Third Stream – consisting of John Peifer on drums, Jim Miller on bass, Tom Strohman on woodwinds & keyboard, and Greg Strohman on trombone & keyboard – has been bringing a quality jazz experience to Central Pennsylvania since 1974. Third Stream has appeared in numerous concerts and nightclubs as featured artists, and has also shared the bill with Herbie Hancock, Stanley Turrentine, Spyro Gyra, Tower of Power, Jeff Beck, Livingston Taylor and Vassar Clements. The group aims to present the creative, improvised music of jazz in an exciting form of entertainment fit for all audiences.

Founded in Hershey, Pennsylvania, Parkside Harmony is a dynamic a cappella ensemble specializing in the rebirth of familiar tunes with an added, polyphonic twist! The group has opened for GRAMMY award-winning Pentatonix, performed in Carnegie Hall, and medaled in numerous Barbershop Harmony Society competitions. The 30+ members of Parkside Harmony bring a fun energy as they entertain and fulfill their mission of ‘Keep the Whole World Singing!’

PARKING & DIRECTIONS

Free, handicapped accessible parking is available at the PHFA garage between Front & 2nd streets. Access the garage by turning left onto N River Street from Locust Street – an attendant will be at the entrance to assist you.

Street parking on 2nd, Locust, and Pine streets is free on Sundays and after 7pm on weekdays.


Directions:
From 81: Take the Front Street exit (downtown), turn left on Locust Street, then left on North River Street. The garage will be on your left.
From 83: Take the 2nd Street exit, turn left on Pine Street, left on Front Street, left on Locust Street, then left on North River Street. The garage will be on your left.
